چکیده

Abstract.

Multidrug resistance is still a major health problem worldwide. Biofilm formation was related to the of bacteria mechanism. Acinetobacter baumannii, one that cause nosocomial infections, given particular attention due its high prevalence resistance. The current study address observing antibacterial activity and antibiofilm Curcuma domestica rhizome extract against multidrug-resistant baumannii (MDR A.baumannii). macerated by ethanol 96%. Determination Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) carried out microdilution method. Antibiofilm analysis determined standard quantitative using crystal violet-stained assay. Ethanol C. possesses MDR A. with MIC value 250 µg/mL. Additionally, could inhibit biofilm A.baumannii, thus percentage formed only 23.7% significance different control after analyzed ANOVA post hoc test Tukey. According these results, revealed had potency in suppressing be utilized clinical application, especially A.baumannii infection.

Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

To understand the epidemiology of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii and define individual risk factors for multidrug resistance, we used epidemiologic methods, performed organism typing by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), and conducted a matched case-control retrospective study. We investigated 118 patients, on 27 wards in Israel, in whom MDR A. baumannii was isolated fr...

Identification of Novel Vaccine Candidates against Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

Acinetobacter baumannii is an emerging opportunistic bacterium associated with nosocomial infections in intensive care units. The alarming increase in infections caused by A. baumannii is strongly associated with enhanced resistance to antibiotics, in particular carbapenems. This, together with the lack of a licensed vaccine, has translated into significant economic, logistic and health impacts...

In vitro activity of tigecycline against multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.

This survey was conducted to evaluate the in vitro activity of tigecycline against 50 isolates of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii. Isolates of A. baumannii were resistant to ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol, imipenem, levofloxacin, piperacillin and piperacillin-tazobactam, but were always susceptible to colistin. MICs of tigecycline were determined by E-test in Mueller-Hinton ag...
